NewLife Newham is a social enterprise that empowers remarkable people facing complex obstacles; including mental and physical ill health, homelessness and disadvantage. Believing in the power of purpose and belonging to change lives, we support vulnerable local people into and towards meaningful employment and housing.

WORKING TO CHANGE LIVES

The NewLife back-to-work programme is not a ‘system’, it’s person-centric. In addition to providing life-changing work experience and employment opportunities, our team of NewDay advocate workers also offer trainees intensive 1-2-1 support, designed to break down the complex cycles of homelessness, isolation and poverty. This collaborative approach, helps trainees achieve real and lasting change.

WHY WE EXIST

Our community here in Newham is facing a wide range of complex social issues.

• A staggering one in 25 people are homeless in the London Borough of Newham - the highest number in the capital. That’s 13,607 people out of the population of 340,978, and an increase of almost 1,500 in the past year.
  

• Newham has more children living in poverty than anywhere else in London.

• One third of working age Newham residents with a mental illness are employed, compared to two-thirds of the general working age population in Newham. As stated in Newham Council’s Mental Health Needs Assessment, “More action is needed to help people with anxiety and depression to find or keep a job.”
